You might be aware that it's possible to switch your default keyboard on your iPhone. If this is new information to you, don't worry—it's quite straightforward! Below, I’ve compiled my top five favorite keyboards for iOS devices.

1. QuickType Keyboard
You may not recognize the name QuickType, but it’s the standard keyboard found on every iPhone and iPad. This keyboard has been a reliable choice for users over the years, and its simplicity is part of its charm.
Apple has continually improved QuickType, enhancing its predictive text capabilities, even adding emoji suggestions. While there are other keyboards with advanced features like ChatGPT integration, QuickType remains the most user-friendly option for the majority.
2. SwiftKey
When Microsoft announced the potential discontinuation of SwiftKey, many were disheartened. Fortunately, they reversed that decision, likely to keep users happy and promote their Bing and ChatGPT services.
SwiftKey offers seamless integration with Bing, allowing for features like image generation and text composition. With its strong predictive capabilities, smooth operation, and unique themes, SwiftKey earns its spot on this list.
3. TypeWise
For those looking for a distinctive typing experience, TypeWise is an excellent choice. While its unconventional layout might take some getting used to, it ultimately provides a more accurate typing experience.
TypeWise prioritizes security, offering an offline mode with its pro version available for a fee. If you can adapt to a new layout and prefer a keyboard that respects your privacy, TypeWise may be perfect for you.
4. Gboard
You might be puzzled as to why Gboard appears lower on this list, especially given its popularity. The primary issue is that Gboard hasn't seen an update in over a year.
Still, Gboard remains a strong contender, featuring effective predictive text and solid typing accuracy, along with Google integration for searching images and GIFs. It's unfortunate that it hasn't been refreshed recently, especially when the Android version continues to receive regular updates.
5. Fleksy
Fleksy is one of my all-time favorite keyboards, utilized frequently on both Android and iOS devices. However, it shares a similar fate as Gboard, with infrequent updates—its last major update was three months ago, with a significant gap before that.
Despite the lack of updates, Fleksy still provides an outstanding typing experience, with exceptional autocorrection capabilities. Although it doesn't support swipe typing, its gesture controls simplify punctuation and spacing. The lack of updates is disappointing, but the quality of the keyboard remains impressive.
What are your thoughts? Do you have any keyboards in mind that could take the place of any on this list? I’d love to hear from you!
