Chapter 1: The Journey Begins
Time flies, and before you know it, a significant portion of 2023 has passed.

The reality of creating content online is strikingly true: it can feel like you've been at it forever, yet it feels like you're just beginning. The thought that it’s never too late to embark on this journey is often accompanied by a wish that you had started earlier—perhaps back in 2015.
For me, dedicating time to writing this year has been one of the most significant investments I've made, and I am genuinely convinced of the return on this endeavor. This return isn't solely financial; it manifests in skill development, mental well-being, and the connections and opportunities that are beginning to unfold.
Over these two months as a participant in the Medium Partner Program, I've discovered more about myself than I ever anticipated. Here are five crucial insights I'd like to share:
Section 1.1: Embracing Challenges
Initially, writing one story a week on Medium felt daunting. Setting weekly goals and reaching 100 followers to join the Partner Program appeared challenging. Now, I realize those hurdles were relatively minor.
As time progresses, the challenges become more pronounced. Writer's block strikes more frequently, and the need for fresh inspiration becomes essential. The shift from writing for personal fulfillment to writing for broader audiences or publications brings its own set of rejections.
In retrospect, the hardest part was not starting but maintaining the momentum. Accepting and embracing these tough moments is crucial for growth.
Section 1.2: The Value of Daily Writing
I had a misconception that I needed to publish frequently. Instead, I learned the importance of daily writing without the pressure of immediate publication.
By observing admired writers, I noted how they adeptly repurposed their content, transforming old ideas into new formats. This technique is an art form in itself, akin to perfecting a delicious chocolate cake with better icing and decoration each time.
In the early stages of writing, focus on drafting, outlining, and brainstorming rather than pushing for constant publication.
Chapter 2: The Creative Plateau
In this video, Mark Batterson discusses his writing process, the concept of non-anxious curiosity, and staying true to your voice as a writer.
The plateau is a real phenomenon that anyone writing online will encounter multiple times throughout their journey. Writing is a creative endeavor that constantly evolves, and so do you.
Only a tiny fraction of writers persist through these plateaus, which can feel discouraging. When faced with stagnation, remind yourself that many others are likely giving up—stay the course to join the elite 0.1% who persevere.
Section 2.1: The Connection of Humanity
We all share common emotions and experiences, making us inherently similar. We resonate with the feeling of being seen and understood, particularly regarding our insecurities.
My most popular Medium article was about a topic I initially feared—rejection. Writing about my setbacks has given my work a unique voice, and sharing vulnerabilities fosters connection.
Section 2.2: Accepting Our Mortality
This might sound grim, but recognizing our mortality can lead to a more authentic life. Embracing this truth can be liberating.
Ultimately, no one is particularly invested in your writing journey; other writers will come and go. What matters is how you use your finite time to explore your infinite curiosity.
Two months of writing is a mere blip compared to those who started long before me. While some might dismiss this as a fleeting hobby, it has become an obsession that deepens my appreciation for solitude and connection with fascinating individuals.
I thought this might be just another short-lived endeavor, but here I am, still writing as a quarter of 2023 has flown by.
