Finding Strength in Consistency: The Power of Showing Up

Written on

Chapter 1: The Challenge of Creation

Creating content for publication can sometimes feel daunting. Recently, I encountered a bit of a hurdle in my creative process. Although I've been journaling and free-writing consistently, something shifted in October, and my motivation to produce content began to wane.

In that period, I managed to produce a few pieces, but not nearly as many as I had hoped for. It feels like I'm in a slight slump.

Reflecting on this, I recalled a book I read in 2022 called Fighting Forward. This insight might be just what I need to push through this phase.

Chapter 2: The Power of Showing Up

Setting aside other reads, I revisited Fighting Forward, and the first chapter centers on the importance of simply showing up. It resonated with me deeply. I realized that I've been doing just that—showing up to write nearly every day. While I may not have been publishing as much, I was still present in my practice, and that is perfectly fine.

It’s not necessary to match my previous pace or replicate past efforts. The key is to continue showing up.

“Just decide to show up to this day — this very hour — with everything you have. And then repeat the same thing tomorrow. You never know how close to the breakthrough you actually are. Don’t quit before the miracles start to happen.” — Hannah Brencher

“Don’t let the world fool you into thinking progress must look a certain way.” — Hannah Brencher

This brings me to a vital reminder for you:

Your journey may not always be visible to others, and it doesn’t have to mirror someone else's path. Sometimes, showing up solely for yourself enables you to do the necessary work that ultimately allows you to support others.

This motivational speech by Joe Rogan emphasizes the significance of just showing up, reinforcing the message that consistent effort is key to achieving breakthroughs.

Chapter 3: Revisiting Favorite Books

Do you find yourself reading certain books only once, or do you revisit treasured reads?

This video further explores the theme of consistency and the value of persistence in our creative endeavors.
