A Father’s Pride: Celebrating My Daughter’s Graduation Journey

Chapter 1: The Joy of Graduation
As I reflect on this moment, tears of happiness stream down my face — I can't help but share my overwhelming pride with everyone! My daughter, affectionately known as Chonchi, is set to graduate soon. Her hard work and dedication have truly paid off, as she has achieved the prestigious honor of Summa Cum Laude, a distinction that highlights exceptional academic excellence.
But what makes this moment so significant? Let me take you back…
Years ago, before my daughter entered this world, I applied to Baylor University for Law School. Unfortunately, I faced rejection. The disappointment was immense; I believed I had the qualifications needed to succeed. Have you ever experienced something similar?
I eventually completed my law degree elsewhere but always held a desire to be part of the Baylor community. That longing resurfaced when I received notification that my daughter’s educational payment had been processed. In that moment, I was flooded with emotions, recalling the sting of rejection from over twenty-five years ago.
However, while I was denied, my daughter not only gained acceptance — she excelled! There’s a profound joy in witnessing your child achieve what you aspired to; it reassures you that your struggles were not in vain. It fills my heart with peace to know she is nearing the finish line of her academic journey.
This reminds me of a saying I once read:
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Yes, even through REJECTION!
Additionally, our daughter received a substantial scholarship, so our financial contribution was merely a fraction of her total educational expenses. Can you imagine if we had to cover the full cost? I certainly can't!
Today is a day for celebration! Embrace those around you because new beginnings are on the horizon! This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it — in my own words!
If you’re not aware, this is my wonderful wife — feel free to follow her!
Typically, I conclude my articles with the statement: "The opinions expressed herein are solely those of the author and should not be interpreted as representing any group. The author holds advanced degrees in law, theology, and biblical exposition." However, today I’d like to switch things up a bit.
I'm excited to share, "The opinions expressed herein are a collaboration between the author and his wife, Carrie Báez, and should be viewed as the collective perspective of the Báez family, who now proudly hold advanced degrees in philosophy, nursing, law, theology, and biblical exposition."
