In our journey of faith, it's crucial to remember that following Jesus is not merely a religious duty; it’s about nurturing a relationship with Him.
Are We Infusing Our Lives with Positivity?
Life can indeed feel overwhelming at times. It often seems as though we were created to endure hardships, which can leave us feeling defeated, just scraping by while others appear to thrive.
The Christian path can seem like a series of trials meant to test our faith. However, I believe that the purpose of following Christ is to bring us closer to Him, allowing Him to shape us into the individuals He intended us to be.
God desires a relationship with us; He yearns for us to rely on Him. For those who struggle to believe in the message of the cross, it’s understandable. Daily suffering can raise profound questions about the existence of a loving God, especially in a world filled with pain.
“How can a benevolent God allow such suffering?” This is a legitimate inquiry for anyone who hasn't experienced a personal connection with Him or read His word.
It's even more challenging for non-believers to embrace Jesus when they observe Christians similarly burdened by life's trials.
When faced with difficult days, what messages do we share? Are they filled with frustration, disappointment, or despair? Do we focus on negativity, leading us into cycles of fear?
Consider the impact of our words. As Proverbs 18:21 reminds us, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit." Our words hold immense power, granted by God. When we express negativity, we invite it into our lives.
Scientific research supports what God has taught us: negativity—whether spoken, heard, or even contemplated—can trigger stress and anxiety.
Self-improvement experts emphasize that intentional speech can better align us with our goals. God demonstrated this concept throughout creation. Each command He uttered brought forth life.
For example, when God declared, "Let there be light," light emerged immediately (Genesis 1:3). He divided waters and commanded the earth to yield vegetation, and it was so (Genesis 1:6-11).
The repetition of "God said…and it was so" in Genesis 1 underscores the importance of speaking life. We, too, are called to articulate positivity in all aspects of our lives.
How can we foster a culture of positivity within ourselves? The apostle Paul encourages us to transform our thoughts, even amid challenges.
He advises: "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things" (Philippians 4:8).
God infused life and goodness into every facet of our existence, and it is our responsibility to continue this legacy by speaking positivity rather than negativity.
Heavenly Father, Creator of all that is good, grant us the strength to reflect Your goodness in our struggles, allowing us to find joy even in times of pain.
